On Reddit, the content of your post matters less than whether it looks like it was written for the subreddit. Most removals are for shape, not for subject.
Four shapes get removed constantly: a link-first post, a title that reads like a headline, a body that is a feature list, and the same text across subreddits. None of those are about being a business — they are about not having read the room.
The practical rule: your post should be readable and useful with your product name deleted. If it is not, it is an ad and it will be treated as one.
Reddit's default assumption is that you are selling something, so lead with the part that costs you: the thing that did not work, the number that disappointed you, the trade-off you accepted. Comments attack claims and leave confessions alone.
Do not write in marketing register. No 'excited to share', no 'we're thrilled'. Say what happened, in the order it happened, and stop.
Most subreddits have age and karma requirements, and regulars check your history. An account that only appears when you have something to promote gets ignored regardless of the post. Participate in the subreddit for weeks before posting anything about your work.
| What people usually write | What it looks like after |

| We're thrilled to announce the launch of our new tool that helps you write better content faster! | I built a rewriting tool because my own drafts kept sounding like a chatbot wrote them. Here is what I got wrong for the first two months. |
| Our AI-powered solution streamlines your workflow and boosts productivity by 10x. | It saves me about twenty minutes a day, not 10x anything. The honest number matters if you are deciding whether to try it. |
| Check it out and let us know what you think! | If you write in a language other than English, I especially want to hear where it fails — I have only tested four. |
If you want this done to your own draft: ShipCopy takes a piece of text you already wrote and rewrites it in one of three modes — rewrite it to read human, turn a product description into launch copy, or turn a plain-language request into a reusable prompt. Six output formats, 13 languages. 10 generations free, no card.
See what it does Pricing — US$15/monthYes in most subreddits, once, in context, and not as the reason the post exists.
Many subreddits require weeks of age plus comment karma. Check the sidebar rather than guessing.
Reply once, factually, without defending the business model. Arguing in threads is what turns a removal into a ban.
